Award Month

The loverly Lori has bestowed me with this award.

24youmakemydayaward_2

And now I get to choose 10 of my own to shower with flowers. This is great because I had more than 10 for the "You Make Me Smile" and now I can spread the joy!

I may fall behind but it's like pulling up a chair, picking up my needles and having some chocolate when I read...

Liz, Ann and Mo - Crossroad Knits
Kristine - Fuzzy Yellow Knits
Holli - Holli Yeoh Knits
Erin - My Best Friend's a Dork
Abi - SpiderWomanKnits
Alison - the blue blog
Laurie - Alarming Female
Tracing - Beautiful Things
Jessica - Common Threads
Jenn - Duck 'n Run Designs

A real post should be here by Saturday. Go. Have fun. Smell some flowers.

I'd like to thank...

Holy Saltine Crackers, Batman!

While catching up on my G-Reader blogs, I found out that Jess gave me this

Youmakemesmileaward_4

The "You Make Me Smile Award" and I'm honored! It's my first award - which is pretty neat because hers was the one of the first blogs I ever read.

So now I get to pass it on to 10 blogs that I enjoy reading. (Not that I don't enjoy ALL of the blogs I read but I NEVER break a rule. hah) Some make me laugh, some make me think, some make me want to buy more yarn. But they all make me smile!

In no particular order I award...

Lisa - Oliphaunt Knits
Marisol - Purls Just Wanna Have Fun
Bobbi - The Amazing Adventures of the Kelly-Green Rogue
Beth - Big Geek
Shan - Unfinished Object
Jenny Raye - Loves To Bike and Knit
Rox - Purple Spaghetti
Lori - From The Wool Room
Rachel - Diary of a Mad, Mad Housewife
Jane - Rowanista Dot Com
Erin - Skein Street

(Wesley just sneezed on my screen. I hope it didn't get in anyone's eye.)

Now, pass it on! (Because I always love to add new blogs to my G-Reader!)

Is It Legal?

I'm BACK, baby!

Finally feeling better (it's been an on/off kind of thing, this week) and thanks for all of the well wishes.

So, this week I:

Started Wes on his antibiotics. FYI to the antibiotics company. Make them so they match denim because that's where most of it ends up when "administering".

Went to B&N and knit with Jane. An elderly gentleman tried to pick us up but we behaved...and then his wife woke him up and said she was ready to go home. So B&N is like big-person daycare. Drop 'em off at the comfy chairs and pick 'em up when you're done.

Had lunch with Vegas Sandy - she is so much fun that I forgive her for going to Vegas, this year, without me. :-)

Bowled. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Got the cutest bookmark, ever! Look for it in future posts. I'm imagining "Where's Waldo" type appearances.

Finished Koolhaas #3 and went back to working on the alpaca scarf.

Took Jane to Mountain Knits & Purls and didn't buy ANYTHING. Jane got a few things and I gave her my discount card for their big sale. Now she's going to try to learn Magic Loop and from there we'll progress to cables. She's excited and I'm always glad to enable a new knitter.

Which brings us to today. Today I knew I was "back". Today I went to Sephora and spent LOTS of money. I was there so long that I started to get hungry, the Sales Associates were calling me by my first name and I had worn tracks in their floor. I had SO much fun that I wondered if it was legal. And almost 4 hours later, Discover card a pile of melted plastic, I'm still on a Sephora high.

Again? Or is it still?

Sick. Again. Or maybe Still. Since Friday.

(Blogless) Jane told me about this. But I don't have that. Nope. Not me.

But it's a good thing we shop at Sam's Club for...um...paper goods.

And a proclamation was made, across the land, that January shall be stricken from the year of 2008, due to non-stop illness, in our Princess. (Yeah. That's me. JAP Lorenzo.)

Because I Can Read

Marisol tagged me with a book meme. OK. Who let it slip that I know how to read? Huh? Who did it?

I have to open the book I am currently reading to page 161 and read the 5th sentence, and then tag 5 people...

I'm on my 3rd book since she tagged me but I've already given away the first book so can't go back for it.

Now I'm reading Stuart Woods, "New York Dead". I can't believe it's the first Stone Barrington book because I've read and listened to at least 6 other Stone books without realizing it would have been good to read them in order - which is something I mostly always do.

"He opened a gallon can of varnish, selected a brush, climbed a ladder, and started at the very top, spreading the sealer with long, straight strokes."

That's one long sentence.

Here's the thing. Marisol gave a "before and after" to help put the sentence into context. But I'm only up to page 23 so I have no idea what's going on on page 161. I'm sure you're all on the edge of your seats to see what it's all about but you'll just have to be happy with that one sentence. :-)

And now...on to the TAGGING!

Put on your reading glasses Rachel, Bobbi, Jessica, Emma and Kena.

Last night was going to be another boring Thursday night. Tom goes to bowling and I spend 3 hours flipping channels like I've got ADHD (who say's I don't?), trying to find something to watch while I knit.

3 minutes after Tom left my phone rang and I thought it was Tom 'cause we can't be apart for more than, like, 18 seconds without texting or talking, don't ya know. haha

I was happily surprised that it was a Shannon, just calling to say "hey" and pass the time with me, for a spell. Turns out our "spell" was 2 hours and I had a great time. (I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!) But now she knows some of my deep, dark secrets and must be sworn to secrecy. Shan, don't tell people I watch Janice Dickinson! SHHHHHHH!

Earlier in the evening I had a run in with my refrigerator, while rescuing a piece of Wes's pasta. The end result was a bandage on my left thumb. There wasn't going to be much knitting so I was doubly spared by the call.

Thanks, Shan!

I kind of got back at Wes this morning when I took him to the Vet for a dental check-up. He has to go for another dental visit to have plaque removed. Darn it! I feel bad because Tom and I had a hard time finding a good way to brush Wes's teeth and so it's MY fault that his gums are back in the red...more like pink...at the edges. At least he isn't having any pain chewing so after this procedure I hope we can keep it clear. Poor guy's only going to be 3! For those that really want to know, he's 9.3 lbs. :-)

And now, onto some WIP's! (Yeah, who knew? This is a knitting blog!)

I'm making this for a friend of my brother. Blue Sky Alpaca in dk weight. 3 shades of brown. Can you recognize it as the famous Chevron Scarf? I really wanted to use all 3 colors so did a little playing with the pattern.

Dsc00987_2

Some of it's rolled at the edges. I only cast on 36 stitches so it's narrow but will be long. How long? I have 2 skeins of each color and I'm working until I run out of them. Hopefully it's LOOOOOOONG.

And my 2nd WIP (let's not talk about the vest, puleeze) is the 3rd Koolhaas. I won't say who it's for, right now.

Dsc00989_2

Malabrigo in Solymar.

So there you have it. I'm a multi-tasker. Reading, talking, vetting, knitting. Maybe a little bit of bleeding (the thumb).

And Sunday I'm heading to a knitting meeting of the Ravelry group: NE PA Knitter's.

What are your weekend plans?

Been So Long

What to say. What to say.

Since my last post...

My Uncle Sam passed away. He was the only Uncle to be at my wedding party and I remember his smiling face. He was also my Father's last surviving brother.

I stayed home from bowling for 2 weeks.

I've only gone out 3 times, to the grocery store, because of whatever crud I've been fighting. I mean, I haven't wanted to go into a store - no Macy's, no Kohl's, no nuthin' - if that's not sick, what is?

I had to get my grandmother's ring cut off of my finger. The people at the jewelry store REEEEALLLLY tried to get it off but when I had to sit down from the pain - I'm talking tears flowing and sweating all over - they stopped. It was a "wanna cry" moment because I've been wearing it for 14 years and I feel so bare without it. I had that done on Wednesday and my finger still shows the "ring" being there. It's not that the ring was tight. I was able to move it up and down but I couldn't get it off of my finger because my knuckle was...um...larger than when the ring first got there. So now I have to decide what to do with the ring. Resize for ring finger? Make into an index finger ring? I don't want to alter the ring by making it a pinky ring. It just means too much to me.

I've sold over 30 sets of markers - I can't believe it! I've also been wrapping markers like a son-of-a-gun.

Tom's been feeling better. He's half-way thru his antibiotics for his sinus infection.

Hey! At least the cat's been fine.

OK. Now onto the photo portion of our show.

My second FO. Koolhaas in Burgundy Malabrigo, for me. (don't look at the no make-up, m'kay?)

Dsc00955_2_2

Tom wants another one so I'm going to use the Buscando Azul (photo at bottom). I can't stop making these hats. Anybody want one? :-)

I got my prize from Marisol, for being her 1000th commenter...commentator?...commentitian?...commentologist?. A cool t-shirt with her banner on it.

Dsc00937_2

I got my first set of markers from the Stitch Marker Exchange. This photo wouldn't "take" on Blogger (shocking!) so here it is.
Dsc00949_2
Markers AND candy! Thanks, blogless Christine!

I got a few new yarns - but I didn't pay for them so I didn't break my diet!

2 skeins of Wildfoote. Tom went to the Down Cellar and bought these for the sock machine (Not for me but for the MACHINE. LOL)

He also bought ME 2 skeins of Malabrigo in Autumn Forest. The ladies there loved that he was buying yarn for his wife. Doesn't every husband do that?

Not wound yet so no photo. It's SO much prettier when it's wound into a cake.

See?

Looking forward

Besides yarn, this time of year, THESE make me happy!

Dsc00873_2_3

I may not be starting much from seed (thanks Wesley nosy cat), but it's always fun to look.

Yup. Still sick. And now Tom has a sinus infection. He just couldn't let me have all the fun!

Still hacking

Still hacking and blowing...but improving!

LOOK! My first FO of 2008!

Blech

I've been sick since 2007 (Saturday, to be exact) but will have an FO to show you when I'm more up to it.

Why don't cold/flu medicines work anymore? I haven't slept in 4 days because the stuff that used to knock you out, while easing your symptoms, now only slightly eases the symptoms and is otherwise useless.

Blech.

See you soon when I'm not shivering, my skin doesn't hurt, I'm breathing, sleeping and my head isn't filled with babbling.
