Testing, Testing

This post is a tester. It's not going to be of any interest to anyone. It's just me typing stuff so I can see if my computer wants to play along. Everything I do is in Firefox, on my MacBook. And since Safari is the "Apple" program, I thought I'd give it a try and see if the glitches show up. Scintillating, right? You can't wait to see what else I'm going to say. You're breathless with anticipation. You need to get a life.P1010676_2

Some things are showing up differently but no glitches so far. Now let's see what happens if I add a link. I know, the excitement is building. But it's over now. Go back to whatever you were doing before you fell into this pit of boredom.

Doin' the Sunday Swelter

No biking changes this week.  Yes.  If I ride in the rain, I WILL melt.

The vest is bouncing along.  The last time I worked on it was Wednesday...or was it Thursday?

Anywho...here's the new view.

P1010888

I've been going thru some sort of stomach thingy and the only things I've wanted to eat have been brownies and salad.  Anybody know the name of that stomach thingy?

I'm sure it hasn't been helped by the sweltering day that was Saturday.  It was only 106 with the heat index.  Seriously, my jeans were all happy to be out of the closet and now they're tossed back to the corner.  I miss them but they're just going to have to be patient.

I did a pretty big update on my shop, today.  Mostly because I sold a bunch at my LYS this week.  It was surprising and got me motivated.

Yesterday I met Chris and Jeanne for lunch.  Not that I ate much but it was still good to get together.  The summer seems to be a great divider this year, with everyone having so much to do.

I'll post more later in the week.  Something is glitchy with my MacBook and I can't see what I'm typing...or deleting. CRAPOLA!

Stay cool, cats.

Random

Random stuff.  Good and bad.

Knitting meeting Saturday.  I showed up.  Just me, myself and I.  We all had fun.  We ate our salad and left 40 minutes later.

Blame Tom, for the constant rain we've been having.  He finally said he was going to do yard work this week. Hence the rain.  Thank goodness he's able to golf today.  He's a trooper, he is.

Got a little knitting done on Bernie's, at the doctor's office.  Seems that taking out the needles worked its magic and they called me in 10 minutes before my appointment.  Also made the nurse hang up her cell phone and talk to me.  The power of the needles.

Have to go for an MRI on Monday. Also need to see a gastroenterologist. Blech.

Mom sent me Baby Ull, for making Sock Monkey socks.  Yeah.  They're on the list.

Mom got a new car.  She deserves it.  May it keep her safe and cradle her in its new smell.

Found out Brother has cancer and will need to have a kidney removed.  I'm freaking about that.

Vest is moving along.  I can knit 5 - 10 rows a night.  Whoo hoo.

Yeah.  Bitch session is over...but I still feel like one.

It's Raining Again

"Oh, it's raining again
Oh no, my love's at an end
Oh no, it's raining again
And you know it's hard to pretend

Oh no, it's raining again
Too bad I'm losing a friend
Oh no, it's raining again
Oh will my heart ever mend"

I sometimes think in song, so thanks to "Supertramp" for my title.

Yeah, I know.  The titles don't show up until you go back and check my archives.  Can't figure out how to put them into my template and TypePad just can't tell me where and how.  Like it's a national secret or something.  "Don't tell her where to put the HTML, the Grand Canyon will crumble!"

It's also 65 degrees but I'm not a Sammy Hagar fan so you'll just have to sing it by yourself.

Today I'm working, and waiting for the dishwasher repairman.  Yes, it's surely Monday.  (I know it's Monday...and stop calling me Shirley!)

Here's my progress on the vest
P1010879_2

After going back and looking at the video on KnittingHelp.com, I'm more confident with my "twists"...even though I'm still twisting at some of the spots she says you don't have to twist. I'm a rebel.

Pay no attention to the small glitches at the start.  I was a wee bit off in my counts but I've straightened them out and am NOT going to frog a weeks worth of knitting.  Nope.  Nope.  Can't make me.

I may not be knitting very fast but I AM enjoying it, much to my surprise.  I had been writing down the counts for each row and then knitting it but finally started writing out 5 rows at a time so I could have more "flow" to the knitting.  Thank goodness there was an Ice Road Truckers Marathon to help pass the time.

I've also picked up one of my UFO's, for when I don't have the time, or stamina, for the intarsia.

Bernie's Scarf. (Chris got the pattern from the LYS).  The yarn is Cashmere from Belisa Cashmere and it's actually a dark purple.

OK.  Back to work.

Wes has decided the perfect way to spend the day.

Erma with an "E"

Erma with an "E".

I'm so glad that I knew her. Glad that she was my friend.  And I'm proud that she got her book published.

Her son came by, this week, and gave me a copy...and I cried.

Take some time out of your day and check out her story.

Sunday Progress

Yesterday, I whipped up these little beauties and the house smelled A M A Z I N G.

Corn_muffins

And then I did a bit of knitting.  I think I've got the system down now and it involves snack bags, a 13 pocket pendaflex folder and colored markers.

Vest_8_12

And this is what my Mom did last week.  Or what was done to her.

Car_accident

I didn't have to worry about blanking out her license plate # because it's attached to her bumper...which is down the street from the car.

The freaky, strange thing about this is that at the same time as the accident, my brother was at his computer, sending me an e-mail saying that Mom was on her way to his house.  And I was sitting with Tom, having dinner, and was telling him that Mom was going to my brother's house.

ALL AT THE EXACT TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.  Spooky!

She's ok, other than missing her car.  Body shop said it will probably be totalled but she's got to hear it from the insurance company.

And what does she say to me?  That she's going to rent a car so she can come visit me for Rhinebeck. :-O

Knitters have their priorities straight, I tell ya.

Ahhhhhh Progress

Wait!  Where are the needles?!?!?!?P1010812
The back of the vest is finished.  :-) (Wes and his cereal box standing guard.)

I gave myself 2 minutes to do a happy dance and then...
P1010818_2
I cast on for the front.  FAST!  FAST!  Before the momentum died.

Additional colors standing by.

Chart at the ready.

I can do it in 3 weeks....right?  I mean, the back only took an eternity 6 months.

Stormy Night

How would you feel, after a 2 hour thunder and lightning storm came thru at 2am?
Thebigyawn

Yeah.  Me too.

Weekly Wrap Up

Tom had a great birthday, this week.  Golf in the morning then we ran to the movies to see the new "Harry Potter".  I think it's the best Harry movie, so far.

And we can't just go to the movies.  We had to (s)muggle in food. (hee hee)  Cold Stone Creamery was our choice on the hotter-than-hell day.  I wasn't crazy about the ice cream (vanilla bean) but by adding in cherries and brownies...WONDERFUL!!!! (I didn't have anyone sing to me as I put a tip in the jar - guess they didn't see the Wiki listing) Just FYI, the small and medium sizes will fit into a Ziploc® Twist ’n Loc™  2 cup container - perfect for hiding in a knapsack, which I did.

The process of bringing contraband food into a movie theater makes the food 10X more tasty and fun.  It gets you giggling like a crazy person.  It doesn't stop us from buying popcorn, tho.  You've GOTTA buy the popcorn!

Then an Olive Garden dinner capped off the night.  Lots of fun all around.

I'm slowly lengthening my morning bicycle ride.  Today I did 4 miles. Total miles on my sidebar.  Rome wasn't built in a day...and neither were my thighs.

Yesterday was the knitting meet-up Summer Party at Jeanne's house.  What a fantastic time!  A dozen happy gals, lots of food brought in (it was pot luck but there was nothing pot luck about the yummy stuff deposited in Jeanne's kitchen!), a small liquor cabinet (also brought in - is liquor a food group?  It was here!).  And Jeanne's husband doubled as a grill chef and personal guard.  I think he was guarding Jeanne's stash - I may have threatened to loot it on the pretense of finding the powder room.  There was floating swimming by some, foot dangling by others, in Jeanne's pool. (Have I said "Jeanne" enough?)

Jeanne was wearing her fairly new, un-fluffy, nicely fitting Ribby Shell (of ChicKnits fame) and Chris wore her beautiful Josephine (from Interweave Knits).  In case you're wondering...I wore my lovely men's cami, cargo shorts from Sam's Club.  I'm a fashion plate.  :-D

Not a lot of knitting but the temperature was about 96 degrees.  Beth was racing to finish a baby blanket, bless her soul!

I took my knitting into the house but, along with my camera, it never left the bag.  Such is life.  I still had a fantastic time.  Other party go-ers were Jane, Susan, Leslie, Elise, Lauren, MaryJane, Lisa (also known as Samantha's Mom), and Vicki(?).  I don't remember names well and I think the newest member of the group is Vicki.  And I don't have any blog links 'cause I don't know if anyone else has a blog.  Chime in if you do!  What a great group of people.

Now I feel I must issue a warning.  No one panic.  I've updated my Etsy shop.  This is my favorite set of markers and I didn't want to let them go.  But I shall.

P1010783_2

Yes.  I know.  It's "only" been 3 months - the time passed quickly and I'm a bad, bad Etsy-dweller.  I hope no one fell off of their chair with that notice.

Do you think anyone figured out that I've got no knitting content in this post?  NAH!  How many times can I show "3 more rows done" on the back of a black vest?
